File Storage: Upload, Organize, and Share Files Securely
File Storage is a core feature in Veracity Data Workbench that allows you to upload, organize, share, and access files securely. In this article, we'll walk you through a quick overview of the main features and how to get started.
Where to Find File Storage
To access File Storage:
Go to your workspace in Veracity Data Workbench.
Navigate to the Data Catalogue.
Open the File storage tab.
β οΈIf you donβt see the File Storage tab, you may not have the necessary subscription. Contact support for assistance.
Organize Your Files with Folders
Folders help you structure your files by project, department, or data type.
To create a folder:
Click Create folder in the top-right corner.
Enter a name for the folder.
Click Save.
πOnly workspace admins can create or delete folders.
πFolders cannot be renamed or moved after creation.
Upload Your Files
To upload one or more files:
Click Upload files in the top-right corner.
Select files from your device, or drag and drop them into the window.
Click Upload.
You can upload multiple files at once.
Work with Files Using the Action Menu
Next to each file or folder, use the three-dot menu to:
Download the item.
Share it with users or workspaces
Revoke sharing
Generate SAS keys (admins only).
Delete the item (admins only).
Share Files and Folders with Others
You can share files and folders with individual users or entire workspaces as long as they are in the same tenant as your workspace.
To share an item:
Click the three-dot menu next to the file or folder.
Select Share.
Choose the recipient:
Enter the email address of a user, or
Select a workspace from the list.
Set the access level:
Read β view and download only
Read and write β modify content and generate SAS keys (for folders)
If you want to allow further sharing, check the box:
β Allow recipients to directly share
Click Share.
π Where shared items appear:
If shared with a user, they will see it in the Shared with me tab under Data Catalogue.
If shared with a workspace, all its members will see it in File storage under the Shared by other workspaces tab.
ποΈ Note: Deleting a shared item only removes it from the recipient's view and not from your workspace.

Control access with SAS keys
Admins can generate SAS (Shared Access Signature) keys to grant time-limited access to external systems or applications.
Generate a SAS Key for a File or Folder
Open the three-dot menu next to the item.
Select Generate key.
Choose the access level (Read or Read and write) and set an expiration date.
Click Generate key, then Copy key.
Generate a Workspace-Level SAS Key
To generate a key for the entire workspaceβs File Storage:
In Data Catalogue, go to File storage.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Select Generate workspace keys.
Set access level and expiration, then copy the key.
π Only workspace admins can generate or revoke SAS keys.
Revoke SAS Keys
You can:
Revoke a single key, or
Use Revoke all SAS keys to remove access system-wide.
β Best practice: Always use the minimum required access level and set a short expiration. Revoke keys when no longer needed.
